Engineering and Technology Management (MSEM)

The engineering management program is a practice-oriented professional track master’s degree and focuses on managing technology and engineering functions. The program includes 33 SCH of coursework. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or technology disciplines. Applicants in other degree fields with technical work experience are also encouraged to apply. A minimum GRE of 293 (Q+V) is required but may be waived for applicants with two or more years of relevant work experience and an undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or greater.

Three concentrations are available in the curriculum: Engineering Management, Management of Technology, and Construction. 

Admittance Requirements

Student with a bachelor degree in engineering from Louisiana Tech University and less than 2 years work experience:

  • 2.8+ undergraduate GPA, no GRE required
  • 2.75-2.79 (overall or last 50 hours) undergraduate GPA, GRE V+Q greater than or equal to 293
  • 2.5-2.749 (overall) undergraduate GPA, GRE V+Q greater than or equal to 293
  • 2.5-2.749 (last 60 hours) undergraduate GPA, GRE V+Q greater than or equal to 293: conditional admission - No grade lower than B should be earned in the first two core graduate courses taken

Student with a bachelor degree in engineering, science, or engineering technology and less than 2 years work experience (Must have at least one degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university):

  • 3.0+ undergraduate GPA, no GRE required
  • 2.75-2.99 (overall or last 60 hours) undergraduate GPA, GRE V+Q greater than or equal to 293
  • 2.5-2.749 (overall) undergraduate GPA, GRE v+Q greater than or equal to 293
  • 2.5-2.749 (last 60 hours) undergraduate GPA, GRE V+Q greater than or equal to 293: conditional admission - No grade lower than B should be earned in the first two core graduate courses taken

Student with a bachelor degree in engineering, science, or engineering technology and 2+ years work experience (Must have at least one degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university):

  • 3.0+ undergraduate GPA, no GRE required
  • 2.5-2.99 (overall or last 60 hours) undergraduate GPA: conditional admission - No grade lower than B should be earned in the first two core graduate courses taken
  • 2.25-2.49 (overall) undergraduate GPA, leadership role in a technical position: conditional admission - No grade lower than B should be earned in the first two core graduate courses taken

Student with bachelor degree in a field other than engineering, science, or engineerin gtechnology and less than 2 years work experience (Must have at least one degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university):

  • 3.0+ undergraduate GPA, technical work experience, no GRE required
  • 2.75-2.99 (overall or last 60 hours) undergraduate GPA, technical work experience, GRE of V+Q greater than or equal to 293
  • 2.5-2.749 (overall) undergraduate GPA, technical work experience, GRE of V+Q greater than or equal to 293
  • 2.5-2.749 (last 50 hours) undergraduate GPA, technical work experience, GRE of V+Q greater than or equal to 293: conditional admission- No grade lower than B should be earned in the first two core graduate courses taken

Student with bachelor degree in a field other than engineering, science, or engineering technology and 2+ years work experience (Must have at least one degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university):

  • 3.0+ undergraduate GPA, technical work experience, no GRE required
  • 2.5-2.99 (overall or last 60 hours) undergraduate GPA, technical work experience: conditional admission - No grade lower than B should be earned in the first two core graduate courses taken
  • 2.25-2.49 (overall) undergraduate GPA, leadership role in a technical position: conditional admission - No grade lower than B should be earned in the first two core graduate courses taken

Students with no degrees from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university:

  • 2,75-4.0 (overall or last 5O hours) undergraduate GPA, technical work experience, GRE of V+Q greater than or equal to 293
  • 2.5-2.749 (overall) undergraduate GPA, technical work experience, GRE of V+Q greater than or equal to 293
  • 2.5-2.749 (last 60 hours) undergraduate GPA, technical work experience, GRE of V+Q greater than or equal to 293: conditional admission - No grade lower than B should be earned in the first two core graduate courses taken
