Computer Information Systems Curriculum (BS)
The Computer Information Systems (CIS) curriculum prepares students for careers by stressing the application and use of information technology in the business environment. The CIS curriculum provides learning experiences in systems analysis, design, and implementation; project management; e-commerce; telecommunications; networking; databases; programming; and interpersonal communication. As the increase in the use of technology in business continues, growth is predicted in the demand for people with these skills.
CIS Program Objectives
- Designing and implementing information technology solutions that enhance organizational performance;
- Modeling organizational process and data;
- Managing projects;
- Acquiring, converting, transmitting, and storing data and information; and
- Identifying and managing common information security risks
Program Requirements
A grade of “C” or better must be earned in all CIS courses.
Humanities (GER)
- COMM 101: Principles of Communication Studies 3 Semester Credit Hours
- Select two Humanities (GER) courses from the following disciplines: Literature, Foreign Languages, History, Classical Studies, Communications, Philosophy, Religious Studies, or Interdisciplinary. NOTE: some of these subject matter disciplines may not be offered at Louisiana Tech University. 6 Semester Credit Hours
Natural Sciences (GER)
- Select one Biology (BISC) class (3 semester hours) AND
- Select one Physical Science class (3 semester hours)
- Select two Physical Science classes (6 semester hours) - must be in same discipline

NOTE: Physical Science courses from the following disciplines: Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Astronomy, or Meterology (some of these subject matter disciplines may not be offered at Louisiana Tech University.)
