The Department of Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) offers a non-thesis program leading to a professional Master of Health Informatics (MHI) degree. The Program is offered in an online format; on-campus courses are not available. The program is accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Health Informatics & Information Management (CAHIIM).
Admission
Admission is competitive; consequently, applicants who meet the minimum requirements specified herein are not assured admission. The Department Admissions Committee qualitatively and quantitatively evaluates applicants and makes decisions based on performance, personal qualifications, and evidence of potential for success. Applicants will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee after the following items have been received: application form, application fee, essay, reference letters, all applicable transcripts, and a resume. Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and must meet the minimum admission requirements of the Graduate School, as well as the admission requirements of the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management. Program of Study
Requirements for the Master of Health Informatics degree include a minimum of 39 semester hours of graduate credit including the following courses:
Research Activities
Faculty members in the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management are involved in areas of research that may serve as a foundation for student projects or independent studies. Students interested in pursuing research are encouraged to contact the appropriate graduate faculty member or the Head of the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management. Information describing faculty research areas is available directly from the faculty or from the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management.
Financial Support
Because of the online delivery of this program, graduate assistantships are only available to students who are able to work on-site at Louisiana Tech University.
