Requirements for a Minor in Music Industry Studies

The Music Industry Studies Minor is designed for students with an interest in business, media arts, engineering, and a wide variety of other fields to explore their creativity through audio production, popular music performance, the creation of music for film and video games, etc., and would provide them with a opportunity to develop marketable skills as creative problem solvers, arts innovators, and entrepreneurs.

This minor concists of 21 hours as follows:

• MUAP 1000: General Recital 0 Semester Credit Hours
• MUGN 1123  or MUGN 1523  or MUGN 1XX: Beginning Voice 3 Semester Credit Hours
• MIND 1002: Introduction to the Music Industry 2 Semester Credit Hours
• MUTH 2102: Popular Music Analysis 2 Semester Credit Hours
• MUEN 2XX: Pop Music Ensemble or Jazz Ensemble 3 Semester Credit Hours
• MUHS 3XX: Music History (Popular Music Topic) 2 Semester Credit Hours
• MUGN 2002: Digital Musicianship 2 Semester Credit Hours
• Music Industry Studies Elective 2 Semester Credit Hours
• Music Industry Studies Elective 2 Semester Credit Hours
• Music Industry Studies Elective 2 Semester Credit Hours

Grade Requirement for Minor

A student must earn a grade of “C” or better in each course applied toward meeting the requirement of a minor.
