Mission
The School of Human Ecology’s mission is to explore and enhance the human experience through the context of families and merchandising, with emphasis on research, practical application, collaboration, and community service. Focusing on diversity, sustainability, and wellness in an ever-changing world, we endeavor to create opportunities and educational experiences for students to become competent and engaged professionals.
Programs
The School of Human Ecology offers two undergraduate degree programs (Human Development and Family Science, BS; Fashion Merchandising and Retail Studies).
Undergraduate programs in the School of Human Ecology are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The Early Childhood Education Center is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. The Family Science concentration coursework in the Human Development and Family Science degree program is approved by the National Council on Family Relations for obtaining provisional certification as a Family Life Educator. The Child Life concentration coursework in the Human Development and Family Science degree program is endorsed by the Association of Child Life Professionals.
